Working a little harder!

Report Date: February 5, 2005

Well is the wind ever going to stop blowing? I should not complain too much it was nice enough to get out back water fishing. It just has been a little to rough to get out and do much offshore fishing. We did manage to get one day out there.

The day we went offshore fishing it was a little rough out there but we got out about 7 miles offshore.

The fishing was good, we caught more Snapper than Grouper but we still ended up catching a few nice Grouper. Most of the fish we caught were on live bait which was a little different then what it had been. Most of the fishing has been with frozen baits but with the water warming up a little it makes sense.

Then we have the back water fishing. The Trout fishing has still been hit and miss. One day we catch a mess of nice Trout then we go back to the same spot a couple of days later and might catch a few fish but they are a lot smaller. Sometimes we might have to work a little but we managed to find some nice Trout after a while. Then we have the Red fish. This has been just about the same most of these fish that we are catching have been on artificial. We have tried live bait a

few trips but have not had a lot of luck. We caught a few Snook but the Red fish just are not active enough to chase live baits down yet. But if you get out there with some jigs and work them slow enough you will be able to catch a few Reds. Most of the Red fish we have been catching have been in really shallow water. We had a few nice fish this past week The Red fish of the week was a 26 inch fish about 6 lbs.
