Tampa Bay fishing-- Getting A Little Wet !

Tampa Bay was a little wet last week, but the rain didn’t stop the fish from biting. It did, however, put them on the move.

Redfish, redfish, and more redfish are biting. There are many redfish around the area and they are biting. The fish are in big schools, which is normal for this time of year. Many of the redfish we’ve been catching are too big to keep. Fall is definitely one of the best times of the year to catch a redfish.

Redfish aren’t the only fish around. Snook are aplenty in Tampa Bay. However, most of them are on the smaller size. Put it this way, if you catch about 20 snook to 30 snook, you might end up with one that you can keep. As fall gets underway, bigger snook will show up.

If you are simply looking for a fish to catch to eat for dinner then snapper is your fish. We have caught some of the biggest snapper that I’ve ever seen in the Bay, weighing in at roughly 6lbs to 8lbs. We have also caught a few grouper while snapper fishing. When the weather cools down and the water temperature drops a bit, the grouper bite should be good.
