Tampa Bay summer time bite is on!
Report Date: July 29, 2012
Small bait in Tampa Bay is aplenty, and the fish love it. Small bait usually appears in the area a bit earlier than it has this year. I believe the delay is due to the hot, wet weather we’ve had lately. As the saying goes, better late than never, right? Right now, fishing in Tampa Bay is pretty darn awesome, and with the large amount of bait on the flats, it should just keep getting better.
The tarpon are not just biting, they are biting well. A few more fish show up each day, and we’ve not had any trouble catching them. We have even caught some in the 150 pound range, which is rare for this time of year. Normally, the fish this time of year are a bit smaller. Although we have caught some large tarpon, most of the fish we’ve landed lately have been between 60 pounds to 120 pounds. As the fall approaches, tarpon fishing should keep getting better.
Fall is a great time for fishing, and it is right around the corner. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your fishing trip today!
