Tampa Bay – Bradenton – Sarasota – Boca Grande

Wow its Tampa Bay fall time fishing!

Report Date: October 9, 2011

It is officially fall. The beginning of fall has brought a change in the weather that has made for some really great days on the water. Fishing is great so far, and should just continue to get better over the next couple of months.

The big ones are back! We hooked many big tarpon last week and managed to land a few. The biggest fish we landed last week was roughly 70lbs. We hooked a number of them that were pushing 100 lbs, but we were unable to land them due to the line breaking off on structure or the fish throwing the hook. A good number of 20lb to 50lb fish are still in the area. In my opinion, the 20lb to 50 lb tarpon are loads of fun to catch.

The redfish bite is phenomenal. Many different schools of fish are still in the lower part of the Bay. On certain days, we’ve had to do some boat riding to get on a big school of redfish, but it was well worth it because once you’re on a big school of these fish, they produce great action. It is hard to beat catching 3 fish to 4 fish at once with some of the fish pushing 15lbs to 20 lbs.

Snook are making a great come back in the Bay. We are starting to catch more and more of these great fish everyday. The fall fishing areas have had a few fish in it, and as that water temperature continues to drop, we will see a bunch more show up.
