Hot and heavy Tampa Bay fishing!
Report Date: August 2, 2011
The summertime bite in Tampa Bay is hot! Many fish have been on the move the past few weeks, maybe due to the changes in weather and water temperatures that we’ve recently had. Despite the fact that the fish are on the move, we’ve managed to keep a good bite going at just about anytime. Yes, we’ve had to move around quite a bit, and even change the kind of fish we’re targeting, but we always find good fish to bite.
The sharks are biting in the Bay, and we’ve been catching them mostly while fishing for tarpon. Sharks have also been chasing trout. It seems like every time we get the trout chummed up behind the boat, sharks start chasing them. Needless to say, if you want to catch a shark, now is the time to do it.
Tarpon are still in the area and still biting. The bite has definitely been good, but each day is different. The size of the fish is varying day by day, along with where the fish are and how you get them to bite. We should start to see some changes with tarpon fishing in the next couple of weeks, but the fish will stay in the area until fall.
Snook, redfish, trout, and snapper have all produced some great rod bending lately. Although we might not catch a slam every day, most days we do and we do with little effort. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your summertime trip today!
