Tampa Bay water temps droping!

Report Date: July 10, 2011

Summertime is sweet! The days are long and warm and the fishing is good. We sure do need some rain, and it looks like we are going to get some soon. Hopefully, the rain will make some of the fish move to the areas they normally are this time of year. It should also decrease the water temperature, which will help with the bite.

When the sun is high and the tide mediocre, the flats get HOT, and the fish really don’t want to bite. When it gets hot on the flats, we have to move to cooler water and fish shaded areas to get on a good bite. In the summer, it is best to fish on a high tide or a low tide. The mid tides are bunk.

The Tarpon bite has been great with the slow moving water. Many of these fish are lying in deeper water than they normally are, but when you locate them, they will eat. Trout and sharks have been biting well with the slow moving water too. Sharks are moving in and taking over the bite as we’ve been trout fishing. They certainly pull the line and produce some great action. Please visit www.castawaycharersinc.com and book your trip today!
