Tampa Bay – Bradenton – Sarasota – Boca Grande

The shrimp fishing has started in Tampa Bay!

Report Date: December 23, 2010

The water temperature has stayed above 70 degrees so far this winter, and the fish love it. Sometimes it feels more like summertime than wintertime, but I’m certainly not complaining. We don’t need another brutally cold winter like last year’s winter. Some cooler weather is inescapable though, so we will have just wait and see what the fish think about it.

We have been catching many great snook over the past few weeks. We are always happy to catch snook after so many of them died during winter last year. As long as the water temperature remains above 65 degrees we should be able to keep catching some great fish.

Lately, the redfish are aplenty. The redfish bite has been very good. Most of them are slot-sized fish, ranging between 20 inches to 27 inches. These fish are great fun to catch on light tackle. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
