THE WEATHER IS NOT STOPIN THE GREAT FISHING IN TAMPA BAY!

Rainy weather hit the Bay area last week, but it didn’t slow us down and it certainly didn’t stop us from fishing. Of course we began some days by fishing under bridges, but we still caught great fish despite the heavy rain. As I always say, the fish don’t care if it is raining because they are already wet.

Tarpon fishing is still good. Some days have been a bit slower than others, but overall, it has been pretty darn good. Plenty of fish are still in the area; we’ve just had some bunk tides on occasion. It is hard to get tarpon to bite without a moving tide. I really don’t foresee the tarpon leaving the area in the near future so the bite should remain the same for a good while.

Many snook are moving back to the Bay from their summer spots. The number of fish moving in is less than last

year, but there is still a bunch of good looking fish around. In the upcoming weeks, we will get to see how many snook we really did lose last winter. In years past, the fall snook bite has been phenomenal. Not only have we caught many fish, we’ve caught some really great sized fish. Once the water temperature drops a little more, the snook bite is going to be great.

The redfish bite

is going to change soon. Redfish do a lot of moving around after it rains. Usually, really big schools of fish appear after a heavy rain. Not that there hasn’t been some really great schools of fish around, they just aren’t in the areas they should be this time year. Most of the fish we’ve been catching have been at the top of the slot, which on light tackle, has been great fun.
