Fishing doesn’t get much better than it’s been lately! Fishing has just been outstanding lately and should remain that way until the water temperature drops below 60 degrees. The water temperature

is currently between 75 degrees and 80 degrees, so hopefully it will remain above 60 degrees for another couple of months. However, change is on the way over the next few weeks. Until then I guess we are just going to have to keep wearing out some fishing rods.

Tarpon!

We had one great day and one rough day where we managed to jump one fish. We’ve mostly been sticking with snook fishing and redfishing lately. The tarpon bite, like the snook and redfish bite, will last until the water temperature gets below that 60 degree mark. However, we did catch a few tarpon last year out around the Skyway Bridge when the water temperature was around 63 degrees. I know… I know… I wouldn’t believe it either unless I hadn’t seen it myself. We are going to try some tarpon fishing around Christmas time this year to see if these great fish might be out in deep water year around. Until then… we have at least two months left to catch silver kings.

The kingfish and mackerel are just off the beach. We hooked a bunch of kings but couldn’t get them to the boat. We caught many mackerel and bonita as well. What a great fight that was! While I was out there, we did see a few kings being boated, but once the wind let up a bit the bite was slow.

Snook! Redfish! Snook! Redfish! If it wasn’t one, it was the other, or both at the same time. We

fished in some different areas this past week and found some great fish. We caught the heck out of them too. Oversized, slot sized, and small…we caught them all. We caught a lot of great fish, and with this great weather,

we should be able to keep doing so. Some of the best days fishing are the days where most people don’t want to leave the dock because it is windy. Not a problem! There is always some place to fish that is out of the wind. If you don’t leave the dock, you’re not going to catch any fish.
