Ready for the challenge!
Report Date: January 28, 2008
I don’t know what the weather will bring the next couple of weeks, but I have a strong suspicion that it’s going to bring some cold spells. Unlike the weather, the fishing is just going to slightly change. Of course the bite will still be good; it will just be a bit harder to find the fish. Therefore, it is a good time of year to have a fishing guide. You certainly increase your chances
of catching fish by fishing with a guide that spends a great amount of time on the water. It is a good time to get those lures out of your tackle box and see some action because the fish are in the rivers.
Recently, the fishing we’ve been doing has been around the beaches. We’ve caught redfish, sheepshead, trout, snapper, flounder, and many others species of fish and we’ve been doing it with shrimp. The fish usually slow down when the water temperature decreases, so shrimp is a good bait to use. Most of the fish have been caught around structure, such as ledges and areas where there is good tidal flow. It is a good time to catch a mess of fish to take home because you can keep
high numbers of limits of different fish. It’s also a good time to get out on the water and bend the rod on fish that you don’t normally catch the rest of the season.
For those that are looking for something a little different, I urge you to take a challenge…out fish me. Bring your whole tackle box of artificial lures or just fish with mine. Yes, that’s right, it’s a fishing contest with artificial lures and you’ll be fishing against me… the guide. If you win, you only pay half price of the normal cost for the trip. You can even bring more than one person on the trip, but before the trip starts, you have to decide who I will fish against. Most of the fishing during this challenge will be done up in the river and we will be targeting mostly snook. We will also be fishing on the flats for redfish. I’m looking forward to a challenge! Call today and book your trip.
