Snook fishing at one of it prime times
Report Date: June 14, 2004
Well the Snook fishing was really good this week not that it has not been very good the last couple of weeks but we have not done a whole lot of Snook fishing. This week we did get to do a little more Snook fishing. We had a few days where we caught over 40 Snook. Yes that right I am not kidding you when I say over 40 we caught the tide right and got the fish to feed real good. Most of the Snook were between 20-26 inches with a few 28-30 inch Snook mixed in. It is all catch and release but it is a lot of fun.
The Red fish bite was a little slower this week. Each day we caught a few fish but not a whole lot, this had a lot to do with the tide it was not as low first thing in the morning. The morning bite has been better
well at least last week it was. As the week went on the Red fishing got a little better well to be honest the last day of the week we targeted Red fish first which we did not do all week and it paid off we caught about 25 Red fish which was more than we had caught the rest of the week.. The Red fish of the week was a 35 inch Red fish.
The Trout fishing has stayed about the same we are still catching about 20 or more trout. We did take a few of these trout and use them for bait for some Shark fishing. You get a good flowing tide so the chum will flow out the Sharks have been feeding pretty good . We are catching a lot of Black Tips with a few Hammerheads and Nurse Sharks mixed in. We fish for these Shark in the bay just out side where we Tarpon fish. Half the time you are out Shark fishing this time of year you will jump and catch a few Tarpon.
The Tarpon have still been running real big first thing in the morning I still don?t think we have hooked a fish under a 150 lbs first thing in the morning. It is real early in the morning but it is worth it to see one of these Silver Kings jump out of the water. This is quit a sight to see. But if early is not your thing the Tarpon have been running on the beach. They are not as big but most of them are between 80-100 lbs which are still real big fish. Each morning we have been starting in the bay then moving out to the beach for Tarpon it?s a little hard to go
fishing for trout after you have been Tarpon fishing . When Tarpon fever gets you it is hard to quit until you catch a big one . The Tarpon of the week was a nice fish it was a Silver king that was about 150 lbs that was caught in 15 minutes by the young lady in the photo. She did not weight much more then a 100 lbs . was unbelievable that Tarpon made a few real good jumps and tired him self out really quick . There is also a picture of the Tarpon that we boated last week which was the big fish of the week since I did not get a picture up last week.
