Whats next!

Report Date: December 20, 2007

Here it is the month of December and it’s unbelievably hot! I have seen some warm days in the winter over the past few years but nothing quite like this. Usually the water temperature goes up and down but it mostly stays around 60 degrees. Right now it’s between 70 to 75 degrees depending on your location in the bay. Normally, it’s difficult to book many trips this time of the year because of the cold weather, but not this year! The weather is great and the fishing has been outstanding!

Let’s talk about

some thing a little different… the off shore bite. Off shore fishing has been really good lately. The Grouper and Snapper have been going crazy. Some of my buddies were about 15 miles out when they found a big weed line and caught a bunch of Dolphin, but I myself, haven’t had many people that wanted to venture out there because the back water fishing has been so good. If it is this good so far… just wait until it cools down some and it should even get better.

Recently,

the Red fish bite has been good. Some days we’ve only caught big fish and other days only slot fish want to bite. Over the past few weeks we have not had any trouble getting on an awesome Red fish bite. When I say we caught big fish, I mean that the fish were too big to keep. Most people don’t complain when the fish they are catching are too big to keep. The slot-sized fish has been just as much fun to catch as the big fish. The slot-sized fish have been 20 to 26 inches, so we were able to keep them.

Snook fishing this has had its days. Meaning some day we have caught them really good then other days it been a little slower. The biggest thing about Snook fishing this time of the year is the water temp it needs to be over 65 degrees before you can catch them very good. This time of the year when it starts getting colder we start doing some Snook fishing with lures. This fishing is usually way up in the rivers where the water temp is a little hotter.
