Fish on!
Report Date: September 17, 2007
Although the weather was a bit bad at times this past week, we still managed to get out on the water and it was worth it because the fishing was good. When the chance of rain was low, we seemed to get more,
but it didn’t stop us. For the most part it just cooled the day down a little. It is almost that time of the year where it starts to cool down, so you better start booking those trips for October and November. Come catch those big fish before it gets too late in the season.
Let’s talk about the new slot limit on the great Snook. It’s getting a little harder to meet the new slot, but we did manage to catch a few this past week that were in that 28-33 inch range. Most of the fish that we caught were 23-27 inches, which is just a little bit out of that range. As it gets later in the season we will start seeing a lot more of the 28-33 inch fish before the fish move to their winter grounds. Until then we will have to pick through a few smaller ones for fun and catch the bigger ones to keep.
On to the Red fish! This bite was a lot of fun this past week as well. We managed to catch a lot of fish that were over the slot, which means the fish were over 27 inches. It seemed like every school of fish were different. Either all the fish were big or all the fish were in the slot of 18-27 inches. Each school was different, but both were a lot of fun to catch. We had a few keepers each day. With the Limit being one per person it is easy to meet. Once you do that you just get to have fun catching and releasing these great fish.
Fish on!!! The Tarpon were back in the bay this past week and were going crazy.
