That was a big one!

It’s looking really good... that is, the fishing this season. There are a lot of really great fish around this year. For the most part, the weather has made the fishing a lot of fun because it has been so great. This past weekend we had a little cold front that is going to put a damper on the fishing for a day or two, but this means we will have to change it up a little. I think at the beginning of the week I might go chase some of the Kingfish that has been around. With the wind change, some of the fish should come into the beach. I will have to let you know next week if that is the case.

Let’s get back to this past week! The fishing has been really great. Like I said, there have been some really great fish around and we have been catching them. The Tarpon here and biting well. We have had a lot of great hook ups. I have a really great one for you. Fishing around the bridge this time of the year can sometimes be hard. If you can only imagine a 100 + lb fish on the end of your rod - you don’t have much control. Here is a good example... we were fishing around the bridge, drifting, and about to leave then right by one of the great pilings I hooked a huge fish! I mean, it was a big fish! I yelled for one of the guys to take the rod so I can drive the boat. It was crazy! Everyone was looking at this big fish jumping in amazement. Meanwhile, I’m in the back of the boat going crazy and the guys started to yell at each other. Needless to say, it was pandemonium! One of the guys did grab the rod. We managed to get the fish up to the boat and leader it a few times. I think I even got to touch it before it got off. I would say that fish was pushing about 175lbs. That is a very big

Tarpon! We managed to hook a few more, but laughed all day about no one wanting to take the rod.

There are a lot of nice Snook. Some a little too big and others just a half inch short. They are all just as much fun as the one before. Numbers have been good and the size has been right behind it. Snook have a size limit 27-34 inches. With some trips, these fish can be hard to find. Just about each trip we have fished, we have had a fish or two in this size. This past week we had a fish at the upper limit. It was a fish that was 33 inches. Man, this fish put up a great fight. Take a look at the picture... this is the first Snook that this gentleman has caught.

Are you ready for the rally on the Red fish? Size? Numbers? I just don’t know what more I can say other then look at the

pictures, or come out and try it you. Crazy is not even the word you can say for this fishing lately - 2,3,4,even 5 fish on at once. I often get asked what is your favorite type of fishing? I say the fish biting. This is a lot of fun when you see the smiles on peoples faces after they get to tired of reeling fish in and take a break for a drink or a snack.
