Tarpon almost to big!
Report Date: June 7, 2004
Well we started this week off with some Snook fishing. The tides were a little different then the last couple of weeks had been. This means that the fish move around on the flat where you would usually catch them. But we managed to find some real nice Snook, each day the Snook bite was a little different most of the days we managed to catch 15 Snook or more. The Snook of the week was a 29 inch fish that was very nice.
Then we have the Red fish bite it was pretty slow at the beginning of the week we did manage to catch a few fish each day but not like it had been . This was because the tides had changed so much the Reds were harder to find but as the week went on the tides changed and so did the fishing it was like some one
turned on a light switch. Toward the end of the week each day we caught 20 Red fish each day. We had some real out standing Red fish this week with a 36 inch fish being the Red fish of the week.
Well if we were having any trouble catching Snook or Red fish we went Trout fishing. The Trout did not care what the tide was they were hungry this week. The Trout fishing has been pretty good the last couple of weeks but we did not get to do much fishing for them till this week and let me tell you it was good Trout fishing we managed to catch 30 or more Trout each day.
Then we have the Tarpon fishing that has been out standing. Even though it has been a full moon all week the Tarpon are still feeding pretty good during the day. The early morning fishing has been very good The only complaint has been how big the Tarpon have been. Yes that?s right not too small too big! what a complaint. .Most of the fish that we caught or hooked in the bay have been 150 lbs or bigger. I mean to tell you there are some big fish running around back in the bay right now. As the day goes on the big Silver Kings move out in the bay where we have been doing some fishing for them, but most of the Tarpon fish during the day has been out on the beach. This fishing can be a lot of fun like the Tarpon in the bay that you will see rolling in small schools. . The fish out on the Beach can be very large schools of Tarpon. These fish you might have to work a little bit at times but if you find the right school of fish it can be crazy. The Tarpon on the beach have not been as big as the fish in the bay well most of the fish have been 80 lbs or better so these fish are still real big and put up one heck of a
battle on the light tackle. The Tarpon of the week was a big fish it was a Tarpon that weigh 165 Lbs and man let me tell you this fish put up one heck of a fight.
