It 's out of here!
Report Date: July 7, 2005
Well it?s starting to clear up that is the Red tide. It sounds like it is starting to show up way up in Tampa Bay with the South wind or
the Southwest wind a lot of the fish that have died are blowing up into the bay. However the good news is it is clearing up and the fish are starting to bite again.
Over the past week we did get one day where we did a little Trout fishing. We did pretty good we managed to get a limit fish and catch a lot of small fish. But as the next couple of weeks go on I am sure that we will be doing a little more Trout fishing.
As far as the light tackle fishing goes we have been mostly fishing for Snook. This has been hit or miss as well but the last couple of days we have caught a pretty good number of fish. The Snook of the week was a 33 inch fish. We do only have one problem this is the second trip this young man has been on and this is the second 33 inch Snook he has caught. So I hope we can keep this trend going.
The last couple of days we were starting too see a lot more Red fish around. So I think that the fishing for the Red fish should start picking up as well. I know this time of the year over the last couple of years the fishing for Reds has been really good.
We have been doing a lot of Tarpon fishing the last week. The Red tide has moved less fish around but we have either hooked fish or managed to boat a fish each trip. If we can not get the big fish to eat we have been dropping down to the light tackle and catching fish. You get a 10-30 lb Tarpon on the light tackle they put up a great fight on the light tackle. But we did have one really nice Tarpon for the week it was 150 lbs.
With the Tarpon we have been doing a lot of Jack fishing and we have got these fish in to a frenzy just about every day. This is a another fish that is a great fight on the light tackle as well.
