There on!

Report Date: June 1, 2005

Well the wind last week made it a little rougher. Most of the week we had a pretty stiff wind that made it a little rough when you got too far out of the bay. But we still got to fish most of the week that is the nice thing about fishing in the back waters when the wind picks up there are still areas that you can hide away.

This week we got to do a little fishing for Snook . It was a little slow at times but a lot of that had to do with the tides. Most of the week we had a slow incoming real high tide. When the tide is moving slow these fish can be a little tougher to catch. During some trips the wind played a big factor in that if the tide is incoming and you get a north wind it really comes in slow. We did have a couple of days were we managed to get a good bite on.

But if we could not get the Snook we made up for it with it with the Red fish. We had a few really great days were we got the Red fish into a frenzy and managed to catch a bunch of fish. These fish like the Snook can be tougher to catch on the slow moving tide but they were working with us last week. A big part of catching these fish was having a lot of bait and chumming these fish up alot and moving the boat when needed. Maybe a little more work but it was well worth it. Most of these fish that we caught were all in the slot size limit 18-27 inches. The Red fish of the week was a 28 inch fish.

Trout this week were in the eat mode as well and like the Red fish we had no problem getting these fish into a frenzy. A lot of these were a little smaller but we

still had a bunch of nice fish mixed in. The fishing for Trout was a little rougher this week but that is because most of the Trout fishing we have been doing has been on some of the outer flats were you can not get out of the wind

Then it come down to the Tarpon this we did not get to do much fishing for because of the wind. But they are definitely starting to show up really good. There are a lot of fish showing up on the beach. But when it is rough you have a lot of trouble fishing off the beach because these fish are tough to see. The fishing on the beach is all sight fishing where you ride and find a big school of fish and put the baits just right and hold on. We did get out one day in the bay and boated a very nice one that was probably over 150 lbs.
