There back!

Report Date: April 20, 2005

Well if it is wind you want you got it. Man oh man it has been blowing pretty bad This has not stopped us from getting out fishing however you just have to fish in a little different areas. It has also cooled down a little more and made it tough to catch some kinds of fish in certain locations.. It is almost time for it to warm up isn?t it?

Well lets start with something a little different which is the King fish. They have started to show up just off the beach or within one mile of the beach and the reason for this is a lot of bait has shown up just off the beach and the water temp is just right. It was a little rough most of the week but we did manage to get on the beach and catch a bunch of Mackerel and hooked a few King fish. With the Kings and Mackerel there

have been Sharks, Grouper, and a few other types of fish.

Then we have the Snook. Most of this week we had a better bite for Snook in the afternoon due to the water temp being cooler in the morning.. Most of the best Snook fishing that we had was in water temp that was above 64 degrees. Most of the Snook fishing we have been doing has been on the really shallow flats which makes the water temp drop to about 59 degrees in those areas on the cooler mornings.. But during the afternoons in the warmer water we have managed to get the fish into a frenzy and catch a good number of fish. We had a lot of nice Snook last week but the Snook of the week was a 29 inch fish.

Unlike the Snook the Flounder fishing has been good. We have caught a few of these fish each trip. The water temp could be 50

degrees and I think they would still feed. But to say no more the morning Flounder fishing has been real good. We had one really great fish that was 24 inches

The Trout fishing has been good as well. We have had a lot of luck getting these fish

into a frenzy. The cooler weather has not bothered these fish too much but the wind has made some locations a little tough.. Any of the locations where the bait is showing up on the flats has produced some really good Trout fishing. We had a lot of nice Trout. The Trout of the week was a 21 inch fish but we had a lot of fish in this range.

Then we have the Red fish. This fishing has been a lot like the Snook fishing in that we needed the warmer water for these fish as well. Basically we have been catching the Reds in just about the same locations as the Snook. We did have some very nice Red

fish this week but the big one was a 33 ? inch fish that put up a great fight.

Oh yeah before I forget, the Tarpon have started to show up. We have managed to put a few fish in the air but they have managed to jump or get off. But don?t worry it will be real soon when we have a picture of one of these great Silver Kings on the report! If you want to see more come visit www.castawaychartersinc.com.
