What to bring

Fishing in the Florida sun is most comfortable for those who come prepared! Always check with the Captain for recommendations 24 hours in advance as weather patterns are always shifting around here!

Polarized Sunglasses

Don't skimp when it comes to eyewear on the water. We highly recommend you wear quality polarized sunglasses for protection, but also so that you can see the sea life we encounter in the shallow waters of the bay.

Sunscreen Lotion

Protecting your skin from the harsh rays of the sun will not only make your trip more enjoyable, but it will make the rest of your week that much better. We recommend at a minimum 30 SPF with higher ratings offering more protection. *No spray sunscreens on the boat, please use lotion for onboard application.

Hat / Neckgator

The Florida sun is intense and wearing a hat offers some protection for your head and your eyes. Whether you choose to wear a baseball cap or a cowboy hat, the choice is yours. Tip: Hang on to your hat when the boat is underway to avoid losing it by a gust of wind.

Food & Drinks

We plan on catching a lot of fish, and you're going to need to satisfy that thirst and hunger! Make sure you bring plenty of water and electrolyte drinks such as Gatorade (a Florida favorite). Tip: Bring more than you think you'll need!

You do NOT need a Florida fishing license!

In the state of Florida, when fishing with a licensed fishing captain on a charter you do not need to provide your own fishing license!

Where do we meet?

Depending on your location we will typically meet at Regatta Point Marina (Palmetto), 59th Street Boat Ramp (Bradenton), or a boat ramp on Anna Maria Island. 

Captain TJ will provide meeting instructions prior to your charter.

How do I book a charter?

Please contact us using the form on this website, or by calling us directly. Note: We currently do not offer online scheduling for charters.

What types of payment methods do you accept?

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?

All of the necessary fishing equipment (rod, line, hooks, bait, etc). You are welcome to bring your own equipment, but it is completely unnecessary.

How many people can fish on the boat?

Under normal circumstances, 4 people can fish at the same time. There may be instances where only 2 lines in the water at at time are appropriate, or where there are limitations by law (i.e. Tarpon fishing).

Do I need a Florida fishing license?

All necessary licensing for fishing will be provided. In the state of Florida, the captains license covers those fishing on the vessel during a paid charter.

What do I do if I need to cancel a scheduled charter?

Please call us immediately. Cancelations must be received at least 14 days prior to the scheduled date to qualify for a refund. If you choose to reschedule your trip within a year, the deposit will be credited to the future trip.

What should I bring on the charter?

Please review any notes the Captain has provided in advance of your trip, as well as the notes at the top of this page.

What will we be fishing for on my charter?

This will vary by time of year, weather, and your interests. Please call or email us to inquire about the fishing plan and target species. If you desire to target a specific type of fish, please let that be known in advance (as it may impact the tackle and/or bait preparation)

Will you take pictures for us?

Yes, if you provide a camera/phone, I will always be more than happy to take photos of you and your catch throughout the day!

Can we keep, and eat, the fish we catch?

This answer will vary greatly depending on the current legal restrictions, fish size, and eatability. We encourage "catch and release" to maintain a healthy fishery, however there are some species which are commonly kept as fare (such as speckled sea trout, mangrove snapper, and flounder).

Will you clean the fish we catch and are able to keep?

Yes, if requested I will gladly filet each fish for you to take home "ready to cook".

Do I have to wear a life vest?

Only passengers under the age of 6 are required to wear a life vest while underway.

Note: By law, life vests will be available onboard for each and every passenger.

Will I get seasick?

Most anglers do NOT get seasick, however this is completely unique to the individual. All of our fishing will be done inshore, or near-shore, so you don't need to worry as we will NOT be heading offshore. Typically the waters of the bay are moderately calm, and we'll always do our best to navigate the calmest, and most safe seas.

Will we see dolphins and/or manatees?

There is a very good chance we will see one, or both, of these species as they are plentiful in our area. If this is something of interest to you, please let the captain know when you boat the boat and he'll keep an eye out for you.
