Tampa Bay The Big Fish Are Back!

Report Date: May 6, 2015

Big fish are showing up, bait is getting easier to find and catch, and fishing is awesome in Tampa Bay. For the most part, we’ve been starting our mornings off fishing for silver kings, and have managed to jump a few of them daily. More and more tarpon are starting to show up in Tampa Bay. Soon we will have a great number of tarpon in our area. We had our first tarpon versus shark encounter for the year. When that starts happening, it signifies that there are more tarpon in the area.

The snook, redfish, trout, snapper, shark, mackerel, jacks, bluefish, and kingfish, bite has been great. This time of year, we have to be extra careful going up in the flats early because there is not enough oxygen in the water, which causes the bait to die. That is why it is nice to start our day with tarpon or snapper fishing.
