Tampa Bay Tarpon Bite and Sharks

Report Date: September 4, 2013

The fish are moving around in Tampa Bay! The tarpon bite is different every week. One week the bite is better in the morning and the next week the bite is better in the afternoon. The tarpon we've been catching have been nice ones. Lately, we've jumped a fish or two over 100 pounds each day.

While fishing for tarpon, we've caught some really nice sharks. The last time we were actually targeting sharks, we managed to hook some really big sharks and jump a few tarpon on cut mullet with a steel leader.

Some snook are starting to move back into the Bay, however, the temperature needs to drop a bit before the bigger fish will show up. Meanwhile, we will have to keep the rods bent by catching the great redfish that we do have in the Bay. The big schools of redfish should be back in the Bay any day now.

Grouper and snapper have been aplenty in the Bay. Once a cold front moves through Tampa Bay, fall fishing is going to be at its finest. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today.
