Winter Time Temps- Spring Time Fishing!

Report Date: February 26, 2013

I guess we are going to get to do a little sheepshead fishing in Tampa Bay thanks to the spurt of cold weather that came through the area. It's not too cold for live bait fishing, some of my clients just love to catch and eat sheepshead and this time of year is a good time to do it. Sheepshead are spawning this time of year, so they practically fight over the bait. You can catch just about as many good sized sheepshead as you want to clean.

Although we've enjoyed fishing for sheepshead first thing in the morning, the redfish bite has been so good that we couldn't help but to fish for these great fish. Many snook and trout have been mixed in with the redfish too. The redfish bite is awesome and should just keep getting better as spring approaches.

Ever caught a big drum? If you are looking for a great fight, drum fishing will produce one for you. It's the next best thing to the tarpon. These fish put up a great fight on the light tackle!
