Tampa Bay fishing action!

Report Date: July 26, 2011

Fishing in Tampa Bay has been off the charts! Whether you’re looking for fish to produce some reel screaming action or fish to just put in the cooler, we can catch them.

I do most of my fishing in the lower part of Tampa Bay because we have such a great fishery with lots of passes that help create better tides. We also have areas where we can still fish if the weather gets rainy or windy.

The tarpon bite is still great. We have also been catching grouper and sharks while targeting tarpon. Good news…the tarpon bite is just going to keep getting better as the summer goes on. One of the reasons is less people fishing for them this time of year because most people think that the best tarpon fishing is during May and June. Yes, that is true in some areas, but in Tampa Bay, tarpon fishing is good until late October.

Tarpon are not the only fish biting… snook, redfish, trout, and snapper are producing a great backwater bite! Now that we’ve had small bait show up in the bay, this fishing will also keep getting better as fall nears. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
