Tampa Bay – Bradenton – Sarasota – Boca Grande

Its the right time for Tampa Bay fishing!

Report Date: April 25, 2011

Although it is officially springtime, it feels more like summertime. It has been pretty darn hot, but the fish aren’t complaining so neither am I.

Tarpon fishing has been pretty darn good lately. Many large fish are in the Tampa Bay area. Recently, we fought a 180 pounder for roughly 45 minutes before getting her boat side, and prior to that, we landed a couple of 70 pounders to 80 pounders. Big tarpon are continuing to show up in Tampa Bay daily.

Grouper fishing has been good too. Mostly, we’ve been catching grouper while fishing for tarpon. We have even caught a few that were 20 lbs plus lately. Who says you have to run way offshore to catch fish? We have been catching all the mackerels one would ever want to catch, and we just recently caught our first cobia of the season.

Tarpon and grouper are NOT the only fish that are biting. Snook, redfish, and trout are hungry as well. Occasionally, when the weather gets a bit cooler, we have to work a bit harder to catch the fish, but overall, it has been great. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
