A little different!

Report Date: August 2, 2004

Well this week we got to do a little bit of everything. The fishing had its good points and its bad points but I guess that?s just fishing. One of the toughest things about this week was catching bait but enough about that the fishing this week was pretty good overall.

We?ll start with the Trout fishing. It was fairly good. We caught 15 or more Trout

when we went Trout fishing but most of these were small. Most of the Trout were about 14-1/2 inches and they need to be 15 inches. We did manage to catch a few keepers each trip.

Then we have the Snook fishing. Things were just a little strange this week with the Snook fishing. At times the Snook were feeding better with the dead bait than they were with the live bait. Most of the week we managed to catch an average of about 20 Snook daily. The Snook of the week was probably a 26 inch fish but we had a fair number of fish this size.

Then it comes down to the Redfish. We managed to get these fish in a frenzy more than once this week. Most of the week we averaged 20 Redfish a day. Some days we had well over 20 Redfish. We had some really nice

Bull Reds this week, many of which were in the 30-33 inch range. The Red fish of the week was a 34-inch fish.

Then last, but certainly not least, we have the Tarpon. They are still around and they are hungry. We are catching most of our fish up in Tampa Bay. We had a few really good days when we caught some Snook and Redfish and then went and caught the Tarpon. With the late morning early afternoon out going tide, the Tarpon are feeding really good. This week we had two different days where we hooked 5-6 fish each day. Most of them were smaller than they had been but still the Silver Kings are

between 40-60 lbs. The Tarpon of the week that we boated was a 50 lb. fish.

P.S. I don?t know if you can tell in the pictures that we are in a different boat. This is my off-shore boat. It?s a little harder to pole a 30 foot boat around on the flats but we made it work and caught a lot of fish. My in-shore boat was out of commission, but will be back running next week.
