Winter is here Tampa Bay!

Report Date: December 14, 2010

Goodbye fall…. Hello winter! The fall season ended with a bang, at least when it comes to fishing. We caught some great fish this fall season. We even caught a few fish that I was surprised to catch in the Bay. When the water temperature drops below 60 degrees for a couple of days, the tarpon and snook are usually among the first to disperse. However, there are a few areas where you can still catch some of these fish this time of year.

Bring on the lures, jigs, and shrimp because winter fishing is here. Sometimes a change is nice. On occasion, if it is warm enough, fishing with live bait is doable, but otherwise, it is

lures and shrimp. This is the time of year to catch redfish, trout, flounder, and sheepshead.

We are also going to try more grouper fishing in the Bay. Lately, when the water temperature dropped, the grouper bite turned on.
