TAMPA BAY FISHING BETTER EVERY DAY!

Report Date: April 28, 2010

The weather has been amazing, sunny, and beautiful with lows in the upper 60's and highs in the 80's. I'm not the only one that thinks the weather is great, the fish do too. The bite has been great, and

live bait is plentiful on the flats and around passes and bridges. With the water temperature in the 70's and ample live bait in the area, the fish want to eat.

Tarpon season started with a BANG! We landed the first three fish that we hooked, and more fish are appearing every day. Most of the tarpon we've encountered have been between 80 lbs to 120 lbs. Half of the battle with a tarpon is hooking the fish. Once you have her hooked, it's another battle to get her boat side. While fishing for tarpon, we've also had great grouper fishing. You don't have to run offshore to catch great grouper; you can catch them in the Bay. Grouper, much like tarpon, can put forth a battle. They fight as hard as they can to get back to their home in the rocks. Both the tarpon and the grouper are great fighting fish.

The snook,

redfish, and trout bite is fantastic. More and more fish are showing up on the flats each day. The snook were affected badly by the brutally cold winter we had, but there

are certainly still live snook around. I haven't done a lot of fishing for the great snook lately, but the days that I have, I've managed to catch a few. In my opinion, it is going to be a few years before the snook replenish and the bite gets back to where it was before winter. Big schools of redfish and trout are really starting to show up in the Bay with a good bite. However, the fish are still in very shallow water so it can be a bit tough to catch them at times. We have had a few days where we couldn't keep our bait away from them. Trout fishing has been good over the past few years, but it is phenomenal right now. Not only is the bite awesome, the size is great too. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
