Tampa Bay Rod Bending!

Report Date: October 15, 2008

It’s that time of year when the weather is somewhat unpredictable. Each day brings something different. Some days are a little windy and others are calm and beautiful. Many cold fronts usually come through the area this time of year, which changes the fishes feeding patterns. When one spends as much time on the water as I do, you see these things happing and know what to do to catch fish.

Tarpon are still around. I haven’t had as many people that have

wanted to go tarpon fishing lately until last week. I fished two different trips for tarpon, and we had luck with both. The bite seemed a bit slower than previous weeks, but we didn’t spend as much time fishing for these great fish. During both trips we hooked three or more fish, and got at least one to the boat.

The snook are getting bigger… it’s about time! Over the past

week, we invested more time in snook fishing and caught some great fish. Some of my clients wanted to try for the keeper snook, which is a hard slot to hit. Snook have to be 28 inches to 33 inches long in order to keep them. Now, that doesn’t mean that it’s not just as fun trying to catch the bigger fish as the keeper fish. If you get on a good bite, it can be fish on in just seconds. There is nothing like having a fish on your line every time a bait hits the water.

The redfish

sure have made many rods bend lately. The fish are doing a lot of moving around. Every trip we’ve been on lately, we have managed to get on good redfish. Some days most of the fish are over sized and other days the fish are all in the slot. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today!
