Getting hot!

Report Date: July 28, 2007

Hot, hot, hot, But not too hot. The fishing bite is hot and the weather isn’t too hot. Most of the days we have been getting started early in the morning just after the sun comes up. This has helped because we are off the water before it get too hot. With the afternoon trips we have been dodging the afternoon showers which at times has made it cool off as well. I can say the fishing lately has been well worth it.

Let’s get it started with a bite like no other that would be the Snook catching! I don’t even want to call it fishing because it is so awesome. This isn’t too unusual for this time of the year. Over the last few years this is when we have some very good Snook fishing. These fish are out of season till September 1st which is just around the corner so if you are looking to bring that great Snook home you might want to set up that fishing trip now before it gets real busy. But for now come do some catch and release. You may not have seen a Snook bite with the quantity we have been catching and the size is right behind it. We have had some great fish mixed in with some of the smaller schooley fish many pushing the 30 inch mark.

Red fish, well this bite has taken a little more work but with the right tide you won’t have too much trouble. To be honest with you because of how good the Snook bite has been we haven’t done a whole lot of fishing for the Red fish. If you’re wanting to catch that big Red fish we can do so but you will just have to put some time in however there are still a lot of fish around. Most of the Red fish that we have been catching have been over size like 30 plus inch fish which is a bull Red fish that will put a hurting on some light tackle.

If it’s some fish your wanting to take home the Trout fishing is where it’s at. Each day we have put a little time in and we have had some great Trout to bring home to the table. I can say myself I cooked up a couple the other day with a little lemon butter and pepper and it was really good eating.

Tarpon, like the Red fish are out there but we just haven’t had a chance to do any fishing for them. For the most part most of the fish we have been seeing are around the Skyway bridge. When these fish are around the bridge they will usually bite very good. Hopefully over the next week I will be able to tell you about the Tarpon we have caught!
