Here’s to another windy week under our belt! Although it was windy, it didn’t affect the fishing much. It just affected a few

of the areas where we do our fishing. When it is windy, getting from place to place can be a little uncomfortable. But…. Most of the fishing spots we have been fishing are out of the wind. At least that is usually the spots we try to fish on windy days. We caught a bunch of fish last week. You will get a chance to see last weeks fishing in a couple of weeks on Hooked on Fishing - channel 47. I will let you know when the show is scheduled to air when I’m notified.

Let’s start with the Tarpon this week. Although we did manage to boat a fish or two in Boca Grande last week, the fishing here has been a little tough. The water temperature needs to come up about five more degrees before fishing for the great silver kings will really begin. We have had a tough time getting the fish in Boca to feed as well as about 75 other boats!!! It sounds crazy, but there are a lot of fish in the Boca Grande Pass. Some fish have shown up on the beach here, but they have been really tough to catch. I have a feeling that the fishing for the Tarpon is going to change over the next couple of weeks once we get a little rain and some warmer weather.

Next, we’ll move on to the Snook fishing! Wow, there are a lot of Snook

around. These fish are doing some different things because the water temperature is still cool. If it’s Snook you are looking for… we can catch them. We had some great numbers last week and the size was o.k. too. Most of the fish are 18-26 inches, but you will get that big one mixed in every once in awhile. We’ve had fun lately with these great fish. When you get the right tide and the right spot the fish will come.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the Red fish. Some of the biggest Red fish of the year have been caught over the past few weeks, and there is more to come. The biggest problem that we have had in the past week

has been catching a fish small enough to keep. Well, I say that is a problem, but most of the Red fish we have been catching have been bull Red fish about 29-35 inches. On the light tackle these fish will put up a great fight. If you can only imagine a fish 10-15 lbs pulling on the end of your rod! Well if you can’t come see it yourself.
