Something different!

Report Date: February 6, 2007

Well it has definitely cooled down. This is the winter weather that we have been looking for all year. Well that is just some of us I was all right with a warm winter. I can say one thing when the weather was warm it sure had the fish confused. Some were in there winter spots and others were still out on the flats where you would find them during the spring. But that has all changed now the water temp dropped to about 60 degrees a

little more some days and a little less some others.

This is a good thing for some of the fishing. I know with the Sheepshead this has and will help a lot with the catching. There has been a lot of fish around but at times we have had to work for them a little. Now with the cooler water the Sheepshead have started to spawn. This usually makes them feed really good. I know the last trip out that we did some Sheepshead fishing we did very well. We had a few fish that were pushing 5 lbs which is a nice Sheepshead.

With the Red fish well this is just as good with the cooler weather the fish just move around more but they are still feeding you just have to find the right bunch which we have had some luck doing over the past week. We had some nice Red fish most of the fish in

the bottom of the slot limit 18 inches but we have a few nice fish mixed in.

We did get to do some thing a little different this week that was some offshore fishing or near shore we were about 10 miles out. I can say one thing the fishing was pretty good but it was rough. Some of the best days that I have had off shore have been on really rough days. This was probably a little too rough for most people but the guys that I had wanted to go so we did. We caught

mostly Grouper we had a lot of nice fish with a few of those big ones that we couldn’t turn their heads. We caught a hand full of Snapper and one really nice King. I think we had a few more Kings pick up the lines because we had some cut offs. I have a few more trips out there this week so hopefully it will lay down for us a little.
