If we could get them to jump in!

Report Date: October 18, 2006

Well there was a little break there. Mostly because of the weather there were two cold fronts back to back it got down to 60 degrees. I am sure that is not a big change for a lot of you but it will move some fish around. The biggest reason that I didn’t get to fish was because of how windy it was. It was blowing the whole last week. I decided to take a couple of days off. With the cooler weather it did bring a change in the fishing a little. It moved the fish around a little but it is just the start. To say no more the fishing this past week has been very good. I think the cooler weather made the fish bite even better!

I will start this off with the Red fish. The cooler water move this fish around big time at the beginning of the week you could n’ t find a Red fish on the flat. But as the week went on that changed big time. The Red fish showed back up and they were hungry. The last few days has been some really great Red fishing. Some of the fish were a little smaller 16-22 inches still a lot of fun and you can keep them when they get over 18 so we did have a lot of keepers. There were still some very nice fish mixed in with these fish as well. Each day we had a few that were over 30 inches or pushing it.

Then we have the every

thing bite or as I have been saying Trout slash fishing. This can’t get any better unless the fish just jump in the boat! I mean to tell you every time that the bait hits the water you have a fish on in seconds. It’s a lot of fun because you don’t know what you’re going to catch next. Mackerel, Grouper, Jack, Lady fish, Trout, and a few others you just don’t know what is going to be next. Most of this fishing is still being done around some of the big pods of bait in the bay.

Then it comes to the Snook fishing which has been really great.. Like I said in the past this years Snook fishing has been the best I have seen in a while. They are still bitting and some of the bigger fish are starting to move in with the cooler weather. We have some days with big numbers not so much size but when I say that I mean you catch a Snook over 20 inches on the light tackle and you are going to have fun with it and almost all of them are bigger then that. This cooler water will bring those bigger fish that have been out spawning off the beaches back into the bay so with the smaller fish you will soon be able to catch those trophy fish!

Last and not least at all is those

great Silver Kings are back. Those who do not know I mean the great Tarpon. I have not had a lot of time to get out there and fish for them but we did one day manage to have a few bites and put the big one in the air. Some are back and hopefully we will be able to get out there and do some fishing for them. The big one was pushing 150 plus! It was awesome since I have not seen it in a few months so I hope to see more of them soon.
