It's cooling down.... Not the fishing!

Report Date: October 2, 2006

Let’s see how should we start this out? Well the fishing has been great and it is starting to cool down a little. It is time to plan those trips for the fall which are starting real soon. I know my book is starting to fill up that is usually a good thing. We have been really lucky over the past week, the weather has been very good ,we have had a little rain in the afternoons but that is expected. We have had a few days where it has been a little windy but we have managed to get out and get a good bite going.

I will start it off with the Trout slash all kind of fish catching. This has not slowed down one bit. If you are having a slow day well pick it up and find some of the big pods of bait on the flats, fish around a few of them and you will be able to change

it really quick. We have been catching a number of Trout they have been on the smaller size with some nice ones mixed in. As far as size goes when you are catching the little Trout all of a sudden you will hook a Mackerel or a Jack and then you will have a big fight on.
Red fish! WOW! This has been some really great fishing..We have had some days where we can’t get away from them. This is a really good problem! This fishing has been a lot of fun we have had some days with large numbers of fish. Most of these fish that we have been catching have been over the slot limit over 27 inches. Which on the light

tackle are a lot of fun! We still managed to catch some fish that are in the size limit 18-27 if you are look for a fish to bring home these are some good ones. I will give you one big pointer have a lot of bait is the key so that you can chum these fish up into a big frenzy.
Then it comes down to the Snook. This fish has still been a lot of fun, some days they are biting a little better then others. But we have had no trouble catching a few for those who have never caught the great

Snook. The only reasons that it has been a little slower on some of the days is the tide has not been moving really good, or one of the cold fronts are moving through . With the pressure changes going up and down this will turn them on and off. But like I said a slow day with these fish has still been 10-12 fish mixed in with all the other fish and it’s still some great fishing. I can say this has been a really great year for the Snook fish over all that is for sure.
We are still waiting for the late Tarpon bite we have tried a few times and seen some fish but its not kicked off yet. In the past we have had a really great late season bite. I hope that they show up soon and till then good luck out there on the water. Hope to see you soon! Come visit www.castawaychartersinc.com for pictures.
