Its Tarpon time!

Report Date: April 4, 2006

Lets start this with a bang can you guess? Well that’s right it has finally warmed up enough where the bait has moved into the bay. So most of the locations that you usually catch bait this time of the year it is there. It is still tough to catch but if you work at it long enough you can catch it. Keep reading and you find out another thing.

The Tarpon are back yes that’s right I said Tarpon! We caught our first fish last week it was a nice fish about 125 lbs. It put up a great fight if you could only ask the gentlemen that caught this great fish before this one of his biggest fish was a Trout. A big difference that’s for sure last time I checked they didn’t have Trout quite that big. Well anyway we have had a few Tarpon show up. We have had a little trouble catching bait for the fish but no one said it is easy.

Then we have the Red fish which is still slow. We are catching a few fish but you definitely have to work to catch them. Most of the fish that we have been catching have been really good size. A lot of the fish are over the limit which is 27 inches so they are great fish. most of them have been over 30 inches. There is no trouble finding the Red fish because there are nice schools of fish on most of the flats that you find the Red fish, but they have

been just really tough to catch.

Trout well we have managed to catch some but I will not say that we are killing them by any means. But we have managed to catch a few Trout each trip that we have fished for them. Oh there is that picture of that big Trout that I told you about a week or two ago.

Another thing a little different is the Mackerel have started to show up in the bay as well. We caught some nice fish last week some of the fish were around 5 lbs.

Finally not last and certainly not least if we have had any trouble catching any fish we go to the Snook. Its funny these are usually the tougher fish to catch. But we have managed to catch these fish in good numbers. We have had a lot of nice fish. We had a few that were 32-33 inches which are some great Snook.
