Get getten getting there!

Report Date: February 14, 2006

Well I would like to say it is getting there. It is but I wish it would hurry up! Well the fishing has been pretty good we just need a little warmer water for all the fish. Give it a couple more weeks it usually warms up.

Well I will start with the Snook we managed to catch the first keeper of the season. Well when we can get the water temp up above 60 degrees we can get these fish to eat live bait. Well live bait is shrimp right now I have tried catching shiners a couple of times but have not had any luck. I guess with the cold weather it has pushed all the bait out of the bay. The water temp has had days that it has been high enough to catch fish on shiners, but we have had a lot of luck on the shrimp. We caught some of the Snook on jigs and other fish on shrimp. Bigger numbers of fish on shrimp then jigs. Well to get back to the Snook of the week it was a 28 inch Snook that we managed to catch on a jig. It was a nice fish as you can see.

The great Red fish these fish we have had a little more luck with the artificial. But that is usually how it works this time of year with the jigs. We have caught more fish on shrimp this week but the jigs have worked well like I said. Last week the biggest fish we caught was on a jig but this past week it was on shrimp. It is nice to change it up a little one day one thing works better then the other.

Then it brings the Sheepshead fishing next, this has been the best fish in the bay. Every day that we have put a little time in for the Sheepshead we have caught a good mess. I will say we have had one problem and that is the dolphin. Yes that right we have a Dolphin that has been taking the Sheepshead right off our fishing line. It is unbelievable he or she is not scared to take the fish right off your line. But other then if it is a little rough or those Dolphin we have had no trouble catching a bunch of fish.
